It's my ideas for one of next release of elementary (here Files):
1. "Float" more regular buttons in top of window,
2. Small button to remove folder from favourites,
3. Icon for fast add new folder,
4. Folder size in icon,
5. Short info in bottom of window

I like it. Though I think folder size written on the icon is a bit too much. Everything else makes sense, if for touch screen devices. I could use such design on notebook also actually, without any problems. The concept of having close button on toolbar beside other buttons it's quite interesting also - it would be good if it would be implemented.

There are a couple of problems with this, the main one being the use of screen real estate; having navigation buttons be this much larger than the actual application contents is madness, and in particular the relative sizes of the "X" buttons on the top bar and the selected folder is crazy.

Don't get me wrong, this looks really nice, but it doesn't make any sense in terms of usability.

You're right about it. But "New folder" icon would be awesome anyway, do you?

Potentially, yes, but then again it's already very easy to create a new folder. I can certainly see the point of it on touchscreen devices though.

I was looking at your concept as if you wanted to adapt the OS to touchscreen devices (the industry future/present?), that would somehow justify the large buttons. maybe they are too large anyway. but it looks good.
